    My key role as resident is to provide an immediate interface with the supplier to enable an efficient supply chain.  Key responsibilities include product assurance, quality auditing, contract negotiation and participation in local meetings to be proactive in improving supply chain performance.

January 2009 to January 2012    EADS Astrium, Stevenage, CPS Product Assurance Manager
    Responsible for the product conformance of a variety of high value chemical propulsion system equipments throughout manufacturing to final customer delivery.  Worked with major international customers and suppliers to ensure quality and delivery requirements are met, whilst satisfying budgetary requirements.  Nominated chair for various equipment product assurance review meetings.  Key member of the supplier audit team, undertaking major supplier audits throughout Europe.  Provide mechanical engineering support to the procurement department.  Active participant in the “Lessons Learned” programme.

April 2008 to December 2008    MLT Research Limited, Cardiff, Quality Assurance Associate
    My task was to achieve approval to ISO14001 and OHAS18001, which was accomplished in October 2008.  Reviewed and updated the quality manual to encompass the needs of these two standards.  Initiated and chaired an Environmental Awareness Team for improving the companies’ responsibility towards the recycling and the reduction of energy use.  Responsible for final regulatory document review prior to product shipment and the subsequent record control.  Worked in a team of three and reported directly to the regulatory affairs manager.  I was lead auditor for both internal and external audits and provided on the job audit training to staff.  Instrumental in sourcing and approving an off-site storage facility for product with a value in excess of £1.5m

October 2005 to March 2008    Enfis Limited, Swansea, Quality Manager
    I joined the company to develop their quality systems as they expanded to meet the stringent requirements for ISO13485.  Responsible for all aspects of the Quality Management System, with two test and measurement staff for reporting directly.  Initiated an environmental awareness project, with the ultimate goal of ISO14001.  Achieved the Green Dragon Award for environmental responsibility.  Provided mechanical engineering technical support to the sales team.  Responsible for supplier approval, both UK based and International, the subsequent purchase of materiel, including proprietary items, custom designed electronics and hardware.  Created an effective working relationship with suppliers to ensure all deliveries were to our requirements, schedule and budget.  An active member of BSi Technical committees EPL76 for laser safety and CP34, lamps.

During our family re-location to Wales, I provided professional driving instruction to learner drivers using the BSM approved system.  Achieved a first time pass rate of 75%.

Sept 2002 to Jan 2005    Apek Quality Services Limited, Wimborne, Company Director and Head of Laboratory.
    My brief was to increase profitability and efficiency by good management and business techniques.  Achieved a 7.2% increase in efficiency and reduced costs by 11%.  Maintained all the in house company quality approvals.  Acted as a consultant on a contract basis, providing quality system management and audit services.  Created several ISO9001:2000/AS9100 compliant systems for associate companies.  Refined our dimensional inspection service to meet our customers’ needs utilising the coordinate measuring machine.  Clients were from the defence, aerospace, medical, composite and automotive sectors, with the specific requirements of TS157 and TS16949 being met.  Instrumental in securing a high value contract with the defence sector.

1998 to 2002    Apek Design and Development, Wimborne, Quality Manager
    Responsible to the Managing Director for the overall control of the company Quality Department.  Maintenance of BSi, UKAS, BVQi and other customer approvals.  Developed the sub-contract CMM inspection service provided by the company to the local moulding and elastomer industry.  Generated quality plans and provided an inspection service to the machine shop.  Promoted to Deputy Head of Laboratory in November 1999 to oversee all technical operations in Apek Quality Services.  Achieved UKAS BS EN ISO IEC 17025 accreditation for the calibration laboratory.  The company produced items for the high vacuum industry, materials testing and specialist machine production.

1996 to 1998    Apek Quality Services, Wimborne, Senior Calibration Engineer
    Duties included the calibration and testing of mechanical and optical test and measuring equipment to National and International standards.  Produced a specific test procedure for an optical alignment project.  Generated work procedures for the commercial department to produce job sheets and other specific quality documents.  Developed a calibration method for a 6m high equipment measuring tower, subsequently completed by our company.  Our customer base was varied, from small manufacturing enterprises, to the large volume production engineering sector.

1985 to 1996    Walker AEC Ltd, Poole, Chief Inspector
Responsible for the day to day running of a busy inspection department, responsible for a team of four inspectors.  This position involved use of all types of measuring equipment, including CMM, hardness and material testing.  The control of calibration, supplier/customer liaison was my responsibility.  The department had to service the inspection and testing needs of the workshop of 70 staff, both skilled and unskilled, on a two shift system, meeting strict customer deadlines.  I instigated, developed and refined SPC procedures to meet specific customer requirements, along with introducing the idea of TQM and Six Sigma.  Verified suppliers’ documentation for adequacy prior to despatch to customers and produced ISIR’s for safety critical items.  Our primary customers were fixed and rotary wing manufacturers, aerospace, with defence, medical and individual nuclear projects ongoing.

1984 to 1985    Hamworthy Transmissions Ltd, Poole, Goods Inwards Inspector
    Goods Inwards Inspection of sub-contract processes, proprietary items and precision machined items.  Liaised with buying departments and suppliers.  Undertook final view duties, screw and plain plug calibration.  Completed raw casting approval.  Provided assembly and service facility inspection.  Used penetrant and magnetic flaw detection techniques.  Produced a technical report for the Coal Board.  The main customer was a producer of heavy machinery.

1982 to 1984     Hamworthy Hydraulics Ltd, Poole, Inspector
    Duties included final view and patrol inspection.  Helped with assembly problem solving.  Used the Talysurf, Talyrond, Moores and SIP measuring machine.  Undertook gear profile checking and hardness testing.
